APRIL POP-UP | MOVEMENT FOR BRAIN HEALTH

April Pop-up | Movement for Brain Health

Our brains are ‘hardwired’ for connection, however many of us find ourselves less connected than ever. Research has shown that connection to others is essential for our well-being and that strong social connections allow us to live happier and healthier lives.

These pop-up classes are a way to connect to ourselves through movement and meditation so that we are better able to connect with the people around us. Enjoy a gentle flow and meditation focused on creating a sense of connection to yourself and the community.

What to expect:

  • Snippets of neuroscience research on brain health, and a little grounding and reset for your nervous system.

  • A class for all levels, including anyone that is new to the practice.

These pop-up classes are a great complement to a more in-depth workshop on Saturday, April 12th, focussing on brain health and cognitive longevity.

Thursdays at 5:00 - 5:45 PM

  • 3/4 and 10/4

Investment:

  • Free for members

  • Standard class pricing applies.

BRAIN HEALTH AND COGNITIVE LONGEVITY | APRIL

Brain health and cognitive longevity with Anzari

BOOK HERE

There is so much research on the tools we can use to optimise brain health and maintain cognitive longevity (memory, attention, reasoning etc. as we age). This research highlights how much control we have in not only shifting how our brains work but helping it in the long-term. It’s never too late to start and all it takes is an open mind and a little curiosity of getting to know your brain better.

This 2-hour workshop is curated to give you an insight into how you can add simple tools to your everyday life for better brain health and function. The workshop will begin with a mini neuroscience session where you will learn about the latest research on cognitive longevity. To retain this information and to practise what the research on brain health has shown us, you will be guided through a gentle flow and a yoga nidra practice. At the end of the session, there will be some time to connect with others over treats that nourish and protect the brain.

 Who is this for?

BREATHWORK DECOMPRESSION SESSION

BREATHWORK DECOMPRESSION SESSION

Breathwork Decompression Session with Ben Jenkins

BOOK HERE

The stresses of life come at us thick and fast in the modern day. Family life, work life, and the driver who cut you off in traffic this morning are all capable of triggering us into states of fight, flight and freeze throughout the day.

Having our sympathetic nervous system respond in such ways is not a problem – it’s a survival mechanism. However, not completing these cycles of stress is a problem.

Our bodies aren’t designed to maintain the cortisol spikes, the high resting heart rate and shallow breathing that come with it.

In these breathwork sessions Ben takes people through the science of breathwork and how to maintain proper functional breathing. He will also guide the class through a breath flow that consists of multiple breathwork techniques – old and new – to decompress and blow off the stress that accumulates in the body.

This results in a completion of these stress cycles and a significant reduction in cortisol with an engagement of the parasympathetic nervous system.

 Who is this for?

  • Anyone finding the stress of day-to-day life overwhelming

  • Those who currently find it difficult to regulate their emotions, struggle with sleep or want to learn new ways to cope with anxiety

  • Those looking to release tension and trapped emotion held in the body

  • Those who are intrigued and want to know more about the power in breathwork

 What to expect:

  • An understanding of proper functional breathing and how to use the breath to change your state of being day to day.

  • A restorative, deeply relaxing guided experience that will directly innervate your parasympathetic nervous system

  • A release of blockages and tension built up in the body

 You’ll walk away with:

  • A greater understanding of how to support yourself, your nervous system and how your breath can be medicine for modern life.

  • Tools and techniques you can use day to day to help you relax, feel energised and improve your focus.

Date and time:

Saturday, 29 March 2:00pm - 3:30pm

 Investment: $50

Spaces are limited, bookings are essential.

Facilitator Bio:

Ben Jenkins is a Breathwork Facilitator who studied under Johannes Egberts from Breathless – a student himself of Wim Hoff’s. Ben has now started his own facilitation practice and is the Co-Owner of Online Wellness hub - The Well Hub.

14 years ago, Ben had a wakeup call after being diagnosed with cancer. When he didn’t find the answers externally as to why this path presented itself, Ben regularly turned within. Using time in meditation, Ben soon came to recognise that past traumas and experiences prior to having cancer had never been properly processed. And he sought to learn techniques to help clear these blockages.
Ben soon discovered Breathwork and the power it had to make space almost instantly. The sense of calm it presented was infectious.

After reading “Breath” by James Nestor, Ben started to understand the true power of breathwork and how it has been revered across the ages as an essential tool for finding balance, as well as emotional, mental, and physical regulation.

Today Ben uses techniques old and new to construct breath flows for his clients. Techniques grounded in science but that also recognise the power that lies within. Techniques to help decompress from the high stress states we regularly find ourselves in and expand our window of tolerance day to day.
