WHAT'S THE HURRY?
This week I was talking with our wonderful teacher Mia about urgency culture and the deeply entrenched illusion that we have to live our lives this way. You might recognise some of these hallmarks of haste: a sense that you are always running behind, feeling pressure to respond to messages instantly, and expecting yourself (or others) to have the perfect opinion-response-solution to any given circumstance in that very moment.
This week I am going to think about how I can commit to my own quiet revolution. Where can be more spacious in how I respond to requests and what I request of others? Can I catch myself each time I go to tell my kids to hurry up? Where can I create more room for processing?
This chat with Mia this week reminded me how grateful I am to be part of a community that has the courage to ask themselves these kinds of questions.
One quote…
We can learn to be present with emotions without falling into the extremes of overwhelm or denial. Rather than spinning stories about our inability to cope with the difficulties of life, we can create space for ourselves to feel without drowning in any given feeling. The creation of that space is the essence of equanimity.

One question…
Which of the eight winds has the potential to blow you off course this week?
