THE ROAR OF EXISTENCE

A foundational concept in yoga is that we have a subtle, or energetic body. The human body is a complex energetic system and subtle energy is simply energy that can’t yet be mapped by current scientific measures. Whatever animating force that spins the planets, turns the tides, and bursts caterpillars into butterflies, this is the same energy flowing through us. In yoga, we call it prana. You might not have the knowledge of, or the language to express the systems of subtle body but you have felt it brimming inside of you.

Yoga offers us principles and practices to map and tune the energetic body. If we are lucky enough to explore the practices of yoga beyond the physical postures, such as meditation and pranayama, we begin to appreciate that it is not only our physical body that requires our care and attention, but also our subtle one.
