REMEMBERING JOY
With all the heaviness of the past few months, it is tempting to think happiness belongs to some other time or place. I was reminded by a friend recently that it’s up to me to go looking for joy rather than waiting for it to tap me on the shoulder.
From experience, I know that joy is always right here and if I remember joy, it will remember me right back. On my list for this week – signing up for the online dance classes I have been eyeing off since March, going through my shoebox of old family photos and blasting my favourite songs at breakfast. Hope this inspires some joy-hunting for you too.
One quote…
Life is filled with suffering, but it is also filled with many wonders, like the blue sky, the sunshine, the eyes of a baby. To suffer is not enough, we must also be in touch with the wonders of life. They are within us and all around us, everywhere, any time. Do we need to make a special effort to enjoy the beauty of the blue sky? Do we have to practice to be able to enjoy it? No, we just enjoy it. Each second, each minute of our lives can be like this.
Thich Nhat Hanh
One question…
Other than time or money, what do you want more of?
