BEGINNING AGAIN

As human beings we all make mistakes. In moments without mindfulness and understanding, we cause suffering for ourselves and those we love most. Under pressure, we raise our voices and act in ways we regret, in short – we blow it. But we can always choose to begin again. The practice of beginning again starts with the awareness that we have done something unskillful and regrettable. The willingness to act with compassion gives us the energy to practice beginning again. Again, and again, as many times as necessary.

Meditation is a great way to try this on. When we sit, it doesn’t take long for distractions to appear. Each time we notice we have drifted off becomes a magic opportunity to begin again without giving ourselves a hard time about it. This is the energy we want to become familiar with to move forward from our mistakes.

One quote…

It’s not the note you play that’s the wrong note - it’s the note you play afterward that makes it right or wrong.

Miles Davis

One question…

What do you need to forgive yourself for? What action can you take to turn your regret into something beautiful?
