CHOOSING WHAT WE NEED

Yoga should meet us where we are. So often we fall into the trap of trying to change ourselves, where we would do better to spend time loving ourselves as we are. Our physical and mental state is dynamic and our practice should reflect this. How you ‘do’ yoga can (and will) change.

  • On challenging days we might support ourselves by leaning into something familiar, finding refuge in our favourite pose, meditation or a guided practice with a trusted teacher

  • A so-so day might be the time to begin with a simple centring practice. Once we have landed, we are able to gauge how we are feeling and go from there, choosing what we need from a wider range of practices

  • On days we feel open, clear and vital we can challenge ourselves to try something different and learn something new.

This concept of meeting (and befriending) ourselves as we are can be a huge shift and one that can be applied to all areas of life.

One quote…

What do you notice while you practice and how do you respond to what you notice? It is this kind, curious, loving attention that is yoga.

Maria Kirsten

One question…

Take a moment. Pause and listen. What do you really need today?
