In this comprehensive 4-week workshop series, you receive an opportunity to learn about its context, guiding principles and benefits as well as why and how to apply them to your personal practice of Pilates. Beyond fleeting movement trends, discover why this method has continued to support, move and heal people around the world for over a century, and how you might apply principles and fundamentals of the method even to your everyday life.

What to expect:

Every session will consist of both theoretical and practical aspects as we will move towards establishing a whole system integration of the method into our personal practice:

  • Session 1 – Physiology of the Breath 

  • Session 2 – Foundations of Pilates

  • Session 3 – Alignment through experiential anatomy principles

  • Session 4 – Recapitulation of the method + repertoire

You’ll walk away with

  • Deeper understanding of the physiology and integration of breath in Pilates practice and everyday life

  • Knowledge and embodied experience of foundational Pilates principles in practice

  • Better understanding of your own static and dynamic postural alignment

Facilitator bio

Lana Sprajcer is a dance artist, Pilates teacher and movement facilitator who has been working across many established Pilates studios in Naarm and continuously and passionately developing her knowledge and experience in practice and teaching. She has created this offering for all of those whose curiosity moves beyond a 45-min group class setting, and are interested in a deep, intelligent approach to mind-body in movement and practice that is inherent to Pilates Method, but in the fast-paced contemporary studio environment, not so often catered for.

Lana holds a BA in Contemporary Dance from the University of Zagreb, Croatia, as well as a certificate in Mat Pilates and Trauma Informed Pilates Approach. Her approach to mind-body in movement is deeply informed by somatic practices and techniques such as: Body-Mind Centering, Feldenkrais Method, Klein Technique and Alexander Technique, amongst others.
