TAPAS: A WORKSHOP EXPLORING DISCIPLINE AND COMMITMENT IN YOGA

Explore the themes of discipline and commitment in Yoga. Emerge from winter and awaken growth with intentional movement, warmth and steadiness.

Using asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breath), bandha (muscle activation), and mudra (hand gestures), this complete Yoga practice offers a slow, structured experience. Build a consistent inner heat, while safely exploring your edge, with time to play! Modifications and step-by-step instructions towards more complex asana are offered by  Tori, an experienced Yoga teacher. Practising the principle of tapas, the third of Patanjali’s niyamas, we encounter resilience and stability, an important part of our emotional and spiritual scaffolding. This workshop will leave you inspired by the  transformational principle of Tapas (discipline and commitment)

Facilitator bio

Tori has been practising Yoga since the age of sixteen, when she attended her first Yoga class as her chosen “school sport”, hooked from the get go. Sixteen years on and a teacher since 2012, Tori has maintained her love of Yoga, and feels very assured it isn’t a “sport” at all.

Tori’s passion for ancient Yogic philosophy, history and practice has shaped a deep, all-encompassing teaching style, anchored in the roots of a profound, holistic tradition. She seeks to create a space for her students to experience Yoga as a means of liberation, surrender and devotion. Knowing Yoga as more than just a means of maintaining a healthy body, Tori has experienced the effects it can have on the mind and our connection to spirit, and remains committed to ongoing svādhyāya (self-study); ever the student of Yoga.
